This course concerns the mechanisms responsible for building multicellular organisms and the direct application to biotechnology. The continuum of development and aging will be examined at the molecular and cellular levels, and particular attention will be devoted to the experimental basis for current models of these processes. Focus on molecular mechanisms of differentiation, temporal and spatial regulation, developmental genetics, transgenic animal strategies, and application of both embryonic and adult stem cells.
